How to Divide Land Won in War

If Bulgaria and Serbia win new land together (based on Articles 1 and 2 of the Treaty and Article 1 of this secret annex), that land will temporarily belong to both countries as shared property (called a Condominium).

They must agree on a final division of this land within three months after peace is made, using the following rules:

Which Areas Each Country Recognizes

Serbia agrees that Bulgaria has the right to land east of the Rhodope Mountains and the Strouma River.

Bulgaria agrees that Serbia has the right to land north and west of Shar Mountain (Shar Planina).

The Disputed Territory: How to Handle It

There is a middle area between:

Shar Mountain,

The Rhodopes,

The Aegean Sea,

And Lake Ochrida.

If both countries agree that this area cannot be set up as a separate self-governing region (due to mixed populations or outside pressures), then they will divide it based on the following rule:

Serbia Promises Not to Claim Land Beyond This Line
Serbia promises not to ask for land beyond a specific border line, which is described in detail and also shown on a map attached to the treaty.

Details of the Border Line

The line:

Starts at Mount Golem on the Turkish-Bulgarian border (near Kriva Palanka),

Moves southwest to Lake Ochrida, passing through many villages, mountains, and high points,

Crosses the Vardar River,

Follows several mountain ridges and watersheds,

Ends at Lake Ochrida near the Monastery of Gabovtzi.

This description was meant to draw a precise boundary between where Serbia could and could not make territorial claims.
